Served on the Indy 1970-1973 with VF33; made three Med cruises. Joined the Navy to see the world and celebrated my 20th and 21st birthdays at sea (66% of the world is water - go figure). However, I enjoyed untold adventures from Spain to Turkey and everywhere in between. Life aboard ship was not that pleasant but we survived. As a result of my experiences on the Indy I later became a Christian minister and have served 23 years as an Air Force chaplain. The 1971 cruise saw many sailors and Airmen make spiritual decisions for Christ. I salute all who served on the Indy and who continue to serve our nation!
